    Balzan is the smallest of the Three Villages and, in the view of many long-term Malta residents, the most genuinely charming. Citrus trees line some of the older streets, the pace is unhurried, and the sense that you're in an actual village — rather than a suburb that used to be a village — remains intact in a way that's increasingly rare in central Malta.
