    Marsaskala (or Marsascala — both spellings are used) is a U-shaped bay town on the southeast coast of Malta, and it has a reputation among expats who know the island well as one of the most liveable places on it. The bay is sheltered, the promenade curves around it to St Thomas Bay, the fishing boats are colourful and genuinely used, and the atmosphere manages to feel like a real Maltese town rather than a resort.
